A child-like saturated reality is hidden just underneath the everyday of the lifetime routine. It’s never far, but catching a glimpse of it proves to be difficult.
I collect what I consider unremarkable captures of my everyday life to chip and peel back that top layer, leaving me with the untouched whimsy of life unconstrained by expectation. I’m always working towards boosting that stylized edge of the real world by using digital tools and analogue source materials like my own photographs and illustrations. Saturating still lives in unrealistic digital palettes and inking comic parallels of my experiences are a few ways I like to approach the challenge.
Kate Loffredo is an aspiring digital illustrator and graphic designer who resides in upstate New York, where she attended Hudson Valley Community College and earned her associate in science (A.S.) degree in Digital Media. She is presently interested in finding new ways to blend her relationship between hand-drawn elements and bold collage design. Kate intends to develop digitally illustrated icons for various websites and someday bring her work to the graphic literature scene. While completing her degree at Hudson Valley Community College, Kate also volunteered at Albany Barn Inc between semesters. Here she amassed managerial and gallery skills while getting a closer look at artist housing and the process for maintaining a creative business. Kate is currently pursuing further education in the field of graphic design and is actively seeking opportunities for freelance work. Usually, her time outside of the academic workflow consists of drawing, practicing music, watching films, or spending time with her cat, Cecil.
